According to a new report from the Equalities and Human
Rights Commission (EHRC) two-thirds of young people claim to have
been bullied at school, rising to four-fifths of those with
special educational needs or disabilities. The report also drew
attention to levels of homophobic bullying and
bullying of transgender students. The findings are published
in the
chapter on Education in the first EHRC
triennial review of fairness in Britain, and the statistics on
bullying are drawn from the Youth Cohort Study, the
Longitudinal Study of Young People in England, and other published
research, as well as a specially commissioned survey of
teachers which asked about bullying pf various groups
and the support offered to these groups.
