In March 2011 the government launched the Call to End
Violence Against Women and Girls Action Plan.
The Action Plan brings together a range of cross
cross-government commitments to tackling violence against women and
girls. There are important references in this document to
preventing violence from a young age including teaching sexual
consent with the curriculum, reducing sexual and sexist
bullying in schools and reducing the access of children to
harmful material on the internet.
