In the community

If we are to live in a safe, happy community, we all have a duty to address bullying beyond the school gate - on public transport, in youth clubs, care homes, in play and leisure facilities and in FE colleges. This section is being developed for practitioners and organisations working in the community. It currently includes some basic information on anti-bullying strategies. Over the coming months we will be expanding this content and adding some case studies of best practice.

Local authorities have a duty to address bullying more widely in the community, including on public transport, in further education colleges and off-site education provision, in youth centres and other youth providers, in young offenders institutes and in care homes. The ABA has produced a comprehensive online toolkit to help local authorities create and embed their anti-bullying strategy, both in schools and in the wider community. It includes key information on all aspects of anti-bullying work, relevant law, policy and guidance and is illustrated thoughout with case studies of best practice from local authorities.
