Sexual bullying

Resources and information to help schools address sexual bullying

AIM Project 
The AIM Project develops policies and procedures for frontline practitioners to help them respond consistently and effectively to children and young people who display sexually harmful behaviours. The project works to ensure that all agencies working with these children and young people have a common understanding of the issues and a consistent and common framework for identifying, reporting, assessing and planning interventions to address the risk that they pose and the needs they present. AIM has developed in conjunction with its associates a number of manuals and provides an extensive training programme both locally and nationally.

Barnardos
Barnardos have produced a series of publications relating to sexual exploitation and working with children who display harmful sexual behaviours.

This single page guide by NSPCC and Womankind was launched at the 2009 NSPCC conference on sexual bullying

Tackling Teenage Relationship Abuse 
National campaign from the Home Office, launched in 2010. The interactive website aims to help teenagers understand what relationship abuse is, and provides an opportunity to get involved in live debates. It also contains adverts from the campaign and a short films and provides links to sources of support and help.

Guidance for schools on preventing and responding to sexist, sexual and transphobic bullying
Part of the Safe to Learn suite of anti-bullying guidance, this document is designed to help schools to identify and deal with sexist, sexual and transphobic bullying involving young people and provides practical guidance on dealing with allegations of bullying.

The gender equality duty and schools: guidance for public authorities in England
This guidance is for governors, head teachers, teaching and support staff working in schools in England.  It provides practical advice on how to implement the gender equality duty (GED) in schools, including addressing sexist and sexual bullying.

Teen Boundaries UK
Teen Boundaries is a charity devoted to stopping sexual bullying and encouraging positive gender relationships. They provide workshops for schools on sexual bullying and on positive gender relationships. 

Guidance for schools on preventing and responding to sexist, sexual and transphobic bullying - Safe to Learn: Embedding anti-bullying work in schools
This guidance. part of the Safe to Learn suite of anti-bullying guidance, has been developed to help school staff recognise, report and respond to sexist, sexual and transphobic bullying.

Expect Respect - Women's Aid Education Toolkit
The Expect Respect Educational Toolkit consists of one easy to use ‘Core’ lesson for each year group from reception to year 13 and is based on themes that have been found to be effective in tackling domestic abuse. Although the Expect Respect Education Toolkit is targeted for use by teachers within schools, it can be used by a range of other professionals working with children and young people in a variety of settings.

Womankind  Respect4Us       
A schools programme that aims to raise awareness and transform attitudes to violence against women.  This includes a free CD Rom with 12 PSHE and citizenship lessons, and a Stop Sexual Bullying campaign with a code of practice created by young people.
